I grew up with MTV and YouTube, the perfect balance of a Millennial.
There was a lot of hot latino summer hits booming the radios as I was just trying to go from point A to point B, but the emo, grunge rocky stuff was nowhere to hear but the shared computer with my brothers. Bon Jovi and Guns and Roses for the Gen X, Linkin Park and Sliplnot for my metalhead brother, some My Chemical Romance and that kinda stuff was downloaded from the other brother.
All of that was the sounds of their generations I suppose. But I was interested in a different kind of glamour.
Lady Gaga hypnotised me and I kept it as a secret for a long time.
As I grew up and try to describe the kind of stuff that I like, I think I might use the term Grunge, but not like the genre, more like the attitude that a depressed punk has.
The Music Videos from the hits that I remember to hear hear full of fuel that still today inspire my visual language. Specially in Motion Pictures art.
I see life itself as a Music Video, sometimes good, sometimes bad, but entertaining.
Noisy music sounds so needed in my brain. It’s like a layer of paint in a very bright space. Its humbling and helpful to notice the contrast.
I try to reach that. That very helpful shaky feeling that u have to start again to reflect on what u are seeing because something shifted the colours.
